We have a fantastic track record of our students transitioning into very lucrative new careers.  Careers in which you will be eligible to apply for after the course are numerous and include an Senior Test Engineer, Programme Director, Technical Specialist, Cell Site Expert, Contract Manager, RF Planner, Programme Manager, Project Manager, Bid Manager, Network Designer and Transmission Planning Engineer.

These are a few of the roles that our students have progressed into within larger telecoms companies, but by no means the extent of opportunities available. We would suggest with a level 7 qualification, you would be looking for more senior roles within a company.

It’s all about the new career

We are mostly ex-forces here at Ubi-Tech, we fully understand the situation you are now in – the concern, the uncertainty, the worry of taking that step into the civilian world, sometimes after a long career in the forces, can be a little daunting.  Please remember, you have many transferable skills that are required in a civilian role and you can now demonstrate all of the skills and knowledge you have learnt by gaining an industry recognised qualification. A Post Graduate Certificate will look great on your CV and can help you land that role in a new and rewarding career.

Once you have completed the course, we encourage students to stay in touch and let us know how they are getting on. Many ex-students contact us when they have job opportunities available as they are aware of the calibre of our alumni.

The Telecoms Skills Shortage

Of the many options you may consider, the telecoms industry should definitely be on your short list. It is a global industry that is experiencing unprecedented customer demands and consequential huge amounts of investment. The future is indeed very bright when you consider the following.

The government Department for Business Innovation and Skills submitted a report in January 2016 on Digital Skills for the Economy which identified that:

  • more than half a million new IT and telecoms professionals will be needed in the next five years, working across all sectors of the economy
  • nine of out ten firms suffering IT and telecoms-related skills shortages are experiencing delays in the development of new products or services.
  • More than one-third of companies trying to recruit IT and telecoms professionals report difficulties in attracting applicants with the right skills, knowledge and qualifications.

More recently, there has been an independent Telecoms Diversification Taskforce Report published in April 2021, providing more details of the challenges faced by the industry. You can read this on the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) webpage:
