This qualification has been developed in conjunction with the Open College Network to provide the foundational knowledge and understanding to enable the student to progress onto Module 2 Certificate in Cellular Networks and Module 3 Certificate in Wireless Area Networking. This module consists of an introduction to the Electro-Magnetic Spectrum, wireless networking fundamentals with emphasis on the Air Interface composition. Understanding of the TCP/IP model and IP addressing and an introduction to dBms in relation to antenna gain and loss. Learners will gain knowledge of basic wireless and radio network structures and have an understanding of frequency, amplitude, modulation and antenna choice.
This qualification has been designed for those looking to have a career in the telecommunications industry or those who work in the industry but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification.
